Floral scent fills heritage city

The ten-day flower show organised by the Palace Board at the Mysuru palace premises was inaugurated in the city on Friday.

A floral replica of Palace on Wheels, the Mysuru Dasara procession with an elephant carrying golden howdah, cartoon characters, arrangement of flowers, models of elephants, soldiers, camels and horses attracted hundreds of visitors on the first day.

A wide range of flowers from Ooty, Tamil Nadu, Hosur, Bengaluru, ranging from African Marigold Gerbera, Blue Daisy and Bird of Paradise added colour to the floral replicas. Medicinal herbs from Chandravana of Government Ayurveda Medical College hogged limelight on the occasion.

With Chief Minister Siddaramaiah giving a miss to the show, MLA M K Somashekar inaugurated the programme. Free Wi-Fi facility sponsored by BSNL, a childcare centre and a health kiosk were also launched on the occasion.  The flower show will be open from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm till January 1 and the palace will be illuminated on all the days between 7:15 and 8:00 pm.
