Folk literature is like Vedas in Kannada: UM Revanna

Mysuru, June 1:-  Folk literature is like Vedas in Kannada, opined U M Revanna who works for Singapore’s Nano Software Company.

He was talking at the JSS Mahavidyapeetha’s weekly ‘Jnanavaridhi-26’ organised here on Monday (May 31).  The topic was ‘Folk in our life.’

He said, “Folk literature is by illiterate persons who are not known to the world but it carries a lot of meaning. Folk artistes always questioned The Almighty but they had true devotion. They saw God in everything. They would think of their native place while doing their day-to-day chores. There was love all over. The TV serials these days have a negative impact on the audience. Folk artists had time sense and their songs had something to convey to the people.”

After the speech, there was a question and answer session. Many experts and the public took part in the weekly programme.

The popular weekly initiative discusses art, literature, culture, education, science, technology, religion, philosophy, yoga, health, lifestyle and other issues. Experts from the respective field deliver a lecture every Monday. (MR/GK)
