Mysuru, April 7:- Akhila Karnataka Brahmana Mahasabha and Mysuru City Brahmins’ Association distributed ration kits to more than 300 poor Brahmin families of the city at Sri Rama Mandir at Krishnamurthypuram here on Monday amid the nationwide lockdown to contain coronavirus pandemic.
Brahmin Welfare Board chairman HS Sacchidananda Murthy distributed the ration kits.
“More than 7 lakh poor Brahmin families across the state are facing trouble. Special prayers are being offered seeking God’s grace to stop coronavirus. Many Brahmin families are not coming forward to seek support as they consider it against their self- respect. But Brahmin organisations have considered it as their responsibility to help such families. Ration, groceries, medical kits are being supplied. We are planning to supply essentials to more than 10,000 families,” he said.
“We have identified 500 poor Brahmin families in various layouts. Parashuram task force has been formed to deliver them the essentials. Priests may call on cell: 78290 67769. Vishnu Sahasranama recital is being held every day to overcome this hard situation,” said DT Prakash.
Vikram Iyengar, Dr Bhanuprakash Sharma, K Raghuram Vajapayee, Balakrishna, Venugopal, Apurva Suresh, Ajay Shastry, KM Nishanth and others were present. (MR/KS)
