Forgery, cheating complaint against JWGC president, secretary, 2 others

A complaint has been filed at the Nazarbad police station against the President of Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Golf Club (JWGC), Secretary Abraham Thomas and members Nagesh B M and P M Ganapathy for allegedly destroying evidence, misleading the members and showing disrespect to the orders issued by the courts.

An FIR (number 0091/2016) has been registered on Thursday under IPC 1860 (U/s 465, 468, 420, 34) – forgery and cheating and the same has been submitted to third JMFC Court, Malalavadi, Mysuru district.

The complaint, the copies of which has been sent to the City Police Commissioner and the District Registrar, has been filed by Raghuveer Ponnuswamy, the Captain and Member of JWGC. Raghuveer has been an international tennis champion and runs Raghuveer Tennis Academy in the city. Raghuveer has been the elected committee member of JWGC and has also served as its secretary in 2013-14.

In his complaint, Raghuveer has stated that when he was the JWGC Secretary, the 28th annual general body meeting of the club was conducted on 27-07-2014 and the issue of irregularities in the pipeline purchase was raised. At that time, the club president had assured the members that the guilty will be punished within three months and steps would be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.

The minutes of the meeting have been changed and club by-laws have been violated despite the members and the office bearers agreeing on the same, the complaint has stated. The decisions passed at the general body meeting have been violated and again a series of purchases have been made by spending more than Rs 40 lakh. These purchases have been made without calling tenders and in a non-transparent manner, Raghuveer has stated.

These violations have been committed despite bringing the issue to the notice of the president and secretary, he stated and said that the president and the secretary have been dilly dallying the issue and have not taken any action against the guilty.

“JWGC is a prestigious club and its reputation has been marred by corruption allegations. The accused have modified several documents according to their convenience and have also destroyed many records,” Raghuveer has stated.

The complaint also alleged that the club secretary Abraham Thomas has shown disrespect to the orders passed by the court.

“I have been highlighting the issues at JWGC and the misappropriation of funds and had asked repeatedly the president and secretary to obey the court rules. This has not gone down well with them and they have personally targeted me and have sent notices in order to insult me,” Raghuveer, who is the part of the JWGC Managing Committee and chairperson of the entire golfing activities, has stated.

Regarding JWGC members M R Surya Kumar and P K Sridhar filing a writ petition in the high court where they alleged misappropriation of funds in the purchase of materials for the club, he stated that though the general body meeting had asked the president and secretary to provide the documents of the last 10 years, the same was not followed in order to protect the guilty and facts have been twisted, he stated.

The accused have been suppressing facts and twisting records according to their whims and fancies.

Raghuveer has also raised the issue of a notice issued to the J W Golf Hut by JWGC Hon Secretary on January 26, 2016 that states: “This is to bring to your kind notice that if a person who has a legal proceeding against the club should not be entitled to use the club facilities in any manner. Kindly bring to the notice of the managing committee members if any such person enters the premises.
