Mysuru, June 29:- Hunsur MLA A H Vishwanath has asked the government to form a committee led by taluk panchayat CEO to decide whether to repair old school buildings or demolish and reconstruct them. He was speaking at the progress review meeting held at taluk panchayat auditorium here on Saturday.
“Education department has informed that more than 55 classrooms of various Government Schools are on the verge of collapse. A team comprising EO, BEO, AEE of PWD department, RFO and chairman of Taluk Panchayat Education Standing Committee should verify the possibilities of repairing the existing buildings or demolish them and construct new buildings. The committee has to submit its report within one month,” he said.
“Buildings of more than 140 schools need to be repaired. Distribution of textbooks is almost successful. Uniform, shoes and bicycles are yet to be distributed,” said BEO SP Nagaraj.
Zilla Panchayat member Kattanayaka Surendra alleged that patients are suffering at Government Hospital due to the negligence of the doctors. Taluk health officer Dr Keerthi Kumar assured of taking necessary action soon.
Zilla Panchayat vice-president Gowramma Somashekar, members MB Surendra, Savithramma, taluk panchayat president Padmamma, vice president Prema Gowda, tahsildar Basavaraj, CR Krishna Kumar, ZP AEE Ramesh and others were present. (MR/KS)
