Former Hunsur MLA Papanna passes away in city

Former MLA and progressive farmer Kodi V Papanna died at a private hospital, here on Saturday.

Papanna, 77, was elected as Hunsur MLA in 1999 on a BJP ticket. He was a close associate of JD(S) supremo and former PM H D Deve Gowda and was also JD(S) state president and treasurer in State Vokkaligara Sangha.

As progressive farmer, Papanna had grown organic crops in his land and also held several workshops to educate farmers on organic farming.  Papanna had recently presided over a meeting with areca nut growers. He had also served as the President of Sri Kenganneswara Swamy Temple in Gaddige for several years.

Papanna is survived by his two wives, four sons and two daughters. The mortal remains will be kept at Hunsur to allow people to pay their last respects. The final rites will be held at his farm in Santhekere Kodi on Sunday afternoon.
