Former Minister Ramdass adopts a physically – challenged child.

In what could be seen as a humanitarian gesture at its best, former minister S A Ramadas has adopted a physically-challenged four month old infant and assured the baby’s mother that he would bear all the medical and educational expenses of the child in future.
The assurance came as a big relief to Gowramma, the mother of the child who herself is a physically-challenged person, reeling in poverty since her husband divorced her.  The former minister visited her ward at K R Hospital to take stock of the situation and assured her all the help needed.
Monika Shankar who was looking after her father in the same ward as Gowramma  had written to Bharat Informal Workers Initiative (BHIWI) organisation of which the former minister is the President of,  highlighting the plight of Gowramma. The minister visited the hospital to meet the mother and child in response to the letter.
Gowramma who spent some time with Ramadas narrated her woes and her financial inability to take care of her child. He then decided to adopt the child and assured Gowramma that the BHIWI will take care of all her medication and education of the child in the future. He also gave Rs 5,000 as a token gift and told her that he would talk to her husband and try to re-unite them.
