Mysuru, December 14:- Former MLA of Krishnaraja Constituency MK Somashekar has urged the state government to construct ‘film city’ in Mysuru and not to shift it.
Speaking at a press meet held at Mysuru Press Club on Saturday, he said that Siddaramaiah, when he was the chief minister announced setting up of film city in Mysuru and identified 100 acres of land at Himmavu and released funds for it. He said that everyone is hoping for the film city to be constructed in Mysuru and alleged that the BJP government was trying to shift it from the heritage city. He said that the government will be cheating the people of Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan, Kodagu and Chamarajanagar districts if the film city is shifted to another place.
“Mysuru is the heart of Sandalwood in Karnataka. The city has been contributing to film industry from a very long time. 70% of the Kannada movies are shot in and around Mysuru. Tamil, Telugu and Hindi movies are also being shot here. If the film city is taken away from Mysuru, the people will never forgive BJP. Keeping aside political vengeance, film city should be constructed in Mysuru itself,” he added. (KS, NGB)
