Mysuru, January 12:- Former Member of Parliament C H Vijayashankar who recently resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has said that he would officially join the Congress on January 19.
Vijayashankar who met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at his residence at Ramakrishnanagar here on Friday, later spoke to media persons and confirmed that he would join the Congress party officially at the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) office in Bengaluru on January 19.
He said, “I have spoken to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and I would officially join the Congress in the presence of Chief Minister and KPCC president Dr G Parameshwar in Bengaluru next week. On the occasion many of my followers would also join the Congress party.”
“I will address a press meet on January 19 and reveal the reason for me quitting the BJP and also disclose the mask of many BJP leaders,” he added.
Two times MP from Mysuru and a strong Kuruba community leader Vijayashankar quit the BJP recently, saying that many inside the BJP indulged in factionalism and tried to sideline him.
It is also alleged that Vijayashankar was refused ticket from the BJP and vested interests in the party were allegedly trying to deprive him the ticket and this reportedly enraged Vijayashankar to take a final call and quit the party. –(KS, KK)
