Mysuru, December 7:- Vijayanagar police have arrested four people who allegedly cheated a woman by selling her a site for Rs 72 lakh by producing fake documents.
The arrested have been identified as Somesh (35) of Aravinda Nagar, Makbal (47) of Sathagalli and the person who acted as the original owner of the land, Suresh Chandra Babu and Jayaram (48) of Sathagalli. The police have recovered Rs 23.5 lakh from the arrested and are searching for the main accused in the case.
The accused used to collect information about the landowners having MUDA sites and would prepare fake documents and were selling them to gullible people at a lower price than the market price. They would even get the land registered.
Commissioner of police Dr A Subrahmanyeshwara Rao has instructed the public to meet the real owners of the land while buying sites.
The operation was guided by NR ACP Gopal and carried out by Vijayanagar police inspector B G Kumar, sub-inspector Ramachandra, ASI Venkatesh Gowda, staff Mahadev, Somaradhya, Eshwar, Srinivas Murthy, Kantharaj, Mahesh, Mahadev. (MR/KS).
