A four-day Sterilisation and Vaccination camp for stray and pet dogs ‘Pet Vet Camp 2016’ commenced at People For Animals (PFA) centre in Roopanagar, Bogadi, on Sunday. Twenty members from World Vets, USA have joined PFA Mysuru to offer their services during the camp.Free birth control surgeries have been performed and anti-rabies vaccination also administered to stray dogs and cats including pets during the at the camp from Sunday to Thursday, excluding July 19.
About 20 members including veterinarians from the US, Italy and Germany led by Dr Gangadhar Patil examined about 70 stray dogs housed in PFA shelter and also some pets at the Vet Clinic. World Vets has organised such camps in about 20 countries in six continents.The volunteers of PFA also created awareness among the public about the importance of the camp and urged them to bring their pets to administer anti rabies vaccination to prevent their pets from falling prey to rabies which is fatal and prevent the spread of diseases from animals to humans.
This is for the first time that World Vets are conducting such a camp in the city and country. The camp was inaugurated by Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement Founder Dr RBalasubramaniu.On July 21, a session on Geriatric Care by expert international vets has been organised for the people at PFA shelter at 4 pm. The pet camp is open from 10 am to 5 pm on all the four-days.
