Mysuru, June 14:- “All India Democratic Students Organisataion (AIDSO) and All India Mahila Samskruthika Sanghatane (AIMSS) and All India Democratic Youth Organisataion (AIDYO) are jointly organising a statewide protest on June 19 urging for free KSRTC bus passes to all students,” said district president of AIDSO Basavaraj at a press meet held at Mysuru Press Club on Thursday.
“Free bus passes should be provided to all the students as Janata Dal (Secular) had promised in its manifesto before the May 12 elections. The academic year has already begun and the students especially those commuting from rural areas are demanding free bus passes. Instead of implementing it in the state budget, the Chief Minister should announce the free bus pass facility for all the students soon. The KSRTC has asked for an additional fund of Rs 629.32 crore apart from Rs 836.98. Now this gives rise to suspicion as to why such a huge amount of money is required by the KSRTC,” he added.
AIMSS secretaries Chandrakala, Seema, S Suma and Akash were present. (KMR, NGB)
