Thieves have a field day in Mysuru City

Mysuru, August 13:- If you thought the heritage city is safe compared to other cities, you are mistaken. Those days are gone, now, the number of theft cases is on the rise in the city.

In the first case, thieves stole valuables from a house at Vidyaranyapuram in broad daylight. In another incident, friends burgled their own friend’s house at Kuvempunagar.

Chethan, a resident of Mahadevapura, 8th cross locked his house in the morning on July 9 and went out. He received a call at 11:20 am from his neighbour Manjula who alerted him. She noticed someone jumping the compound wall with the booty. Chethan returned home and checked for missing valuables. He realised that a 15-gram gold ring, a 20-gram gold chain, 3 rings of his child weighing 3.5 gram, earrings weighing 10 gram and Rs 10,000 in cash had been stolen. He has filed a complaint at Vidyaranyapuram Police Station.

In another incident, known people stole money and ornaments from the residence of one Chandrika of Kuvempunagar. Her friends Meena and Bharath had come home from Belagavi. When Chandrika had gone out, they allegedly stole her mangalsutra weighing 100 gram, one gold chain and Rs 50,000 in cash. She filed a complaint at Kuvempunagar Police Station. (MR/KS).
