Mysuru, February 8:- “All the governments have been announcing schemes to help the farmers. But they are not actually responding to the real problems. Farmers’ suicides have not stopped. The government should fulfil various demands of farmers,” said Karnataka Prantha Raitha Karmika Rakshana Vedike president J Javaregowda at a press meet held at Mysuru Press Club on Friday.
“Farmers who are below the poverty line have pledged their land in banks for loans. They are having a tough time to repay the loans. They are struggling due to drought and floods. The government should waive off loans of the farmers. Farmers’ Welfare Fund should be started to help them as Maharashtra did,” he added.
State secretary S Devaraj and others were present. (MR/KS)
