City Police Commissionerate organised a public meeting, prior to the celebrations of Ganesha Chaturthi and Bakrid celebrations at Police Bhavan, recently.
Representatives of all the communities participated in the meeting in a large number.
Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner of police, B Dayananda said, “Mysuru is known for peace and harmony. Gouri Ganesha festival and Bakrid will be celebrated in the month of September. Dasara will be celebrated in October. During all these festivals, people should participate with harmony”.
“Collecting money forcefully in the name of Ganesha festival is not tolerated. During Ganapathi statue installation, immersion and cultural programmes, everyone should follow the prescribed rules,” he said.
If anyone involves in any activity that can harm the peace of the city will be punished under the law, warned the commissioner. Public then explained their problems and suggestions with the commissioner.
People gathered in the meeting, took oath to celebrate the festival peacefully.
DCPs of the city Dr Shekhar H T, N Rudramuni, B V Kittur and mounted commandant Siddaraju were present on the occasion.
