Foodies of Mysuru get ready to taste various delicacies of tribal foods and the mouth watering Bamboo Biryani at the Mysuru Dasara Food Mela.
Bamboo Biryani and tribal foods which had the maximum footfall during the previous years of Mysuru Dasara Food Mela is back again to deliver a feast of tribal foods at the nine-day food mela. On Tuesday, DC Randeep inaugurated the construction of a special tribal hutment by offering puja to bamboo at the Scouts and Guides Ground premises.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Director of Food and civil supplies K Rameshwarappa said, “Tribal food was a big hit during the 2014 Mysuru Dasara Food Mela. Members of the tribal communities with the support of Karnataka Adivasi Rakshana Samithi and karnataka state tribal research institute have come forward to deliver various delicacies of tribal oods which are nutritious and good for health. In previous years, due to less availability of dry bamboos, the organisers failed to supply or cater to the demand. This year with the cooperation of forest department bamboos have been brought up to prepare special Bamboo Biryani.”
Speaking on the occasion Krishnaiah of Karnataka Adviasis Multipurpose Cooperative society said, “Along with Bamboo Biryani we will be offering herbal tea called Makali beru, Urali Kattu, Sogade Beru tea, Nella Saaru and Noore Genasu.”
Tribal community members from various hamlets (Haadis) including Aralalli haadi of Hunsur Taluk, Basavanagiri Haadi of H D Kote Taluk and others have been invited to prepare special tribal foods.
