Giraffe transferred from Mysuru Zoo to Bannerghatta Biological Park

Mysuru, April 4:- Gowri, a giraffe was transported by road from Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens in the city to reach Bannerghatta Biological Park in Bengaluru on Tuesday.

The female giraffe was transported as per the instructions of the Additional Principal Conservator of Forests and Member-Secretary of the Zoo Authority of Karnataka (ZAK) with all safety measures.

Gowri, a 2.3 year-old female Giraffe was of 13.5 ft tall and was born in Mysuru Zoo on December 19, 2015 to Krishnaraja and Lakshmi.

She began her journey to her new enclosure at 12:30 pm in a low-bed trailer vehicle. Extra care was taken on the speed of the vehicle and the route. Veterinarians, animal keepers and employees accompanied the giraffe. She reached the biological park around 7 pm.

All necessary arrangements were made for a comfortable journey logistically, to avoid risks, said a press release from Deputy Conservator of Forests and Executive Director of Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, Mysuru.
