Mysuru, March 12:- Mysuru, a popular tourist destination in the country has been producing eminent scientists, economists, doctors, engineers, educationists, teachers and yoga gurus. The heritage city is also a hub for education, and several professors and teachers have groomed lakhs of students to achieve success in various fields. Again a Mysurean has brought laurels to the heritage city. A primary school teacher Glora Alse Dera of Government Higher Primary School at Hootagalli was conferred with the State Award (Anupama Seva Puraskara) on Sunday (Mar 8) at Chowdiah Memorial Hall in Bengaluru, on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
The award function was held with the traditional lighting of the lamp by the chief guest, Principal District and Sessions Judge K S Mudagal, Minister of Empowerment of Differently Abled and Senior Citizens of Karnataka Shashikala Jolle, Hireyur MLA Poornima Srinivas and Vinisha Nero, Anglo-Indian MLA of Karnataka.
Glora was the only teacher selected from Mysuru district for this prestigious award. She has been working as a government school teacher since 1994. (NGB)
