Goddess Chamundeshwari’s Vardhanti Mahotsava held in Mysuru

Prime News, Karnataka, Religion, Festival, Mysuru, July 30:- On the third Ashada Shukravara today (July 30), the presiding deity of Mysuru, Goddess Chamundeshwari’s Vardhanti Mahotsava was held at the hill temple.

To mark the occasion, a special puja was offered to the Goddess. As usual, there was a total ban on public entry. The rituals began as early as 4.30 am. Rudrabhisheka, Panchamruta Abhisheka and other rituals were held.

Titular king Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar and his wife Trishika Kumari Wadiyar were present at the Chamundi Hills for the darshan of the Goddess. Chief priest of the temple, Dr Shashishekar Dikshit performed special puja for the Goddess.

On social media, Yaduveer Wadiyar wrote, “I wish the people of Karnataka on the occasion of Chamundeshwari Vardhanti Mahotsava. It is a special occasion we all remember fondly.”

Despite a carpet ban on entry, many enthusiastic devotees tried to enter the temple. Forgetting Covid rules and regulations, they went ahead for the darshan of the Goddess.

Police, in fact, had barricaded all the roads leading to the Chamundi Hills but despite this, many managed to scrape through on some pretext or the other. With the coronavirus cases seeing a jump in the neighbouring state of Kerala, people are wondering if we are inviting trouble again. (MR/KS)
