Govt failed to introduce welfare schemes for poor and Dalits: Alagudu Shivakumar

Mysuru, March 7:- “The Budget passed by the state government is anti-Dalit and anti-labour. It has failed completely in introducing welfare programmes for Dalits and poor people,” said district convener of Dalita Sangharsha Samithi, Alagudu Shivakumar on Saturday.

“The Siddaramaiah government introduced SCP and TSP schemes for the development of poor and Dalits in 2013. But the present BJP government has provided only Rs 26,930 crore which Rs 3,500 crore less compared to last time,” he added.

“BJP leaders were boasting of developing both state and country if voted to power but have done nothing worthwhile,” he alleged.

“Last year’s Budget was Rs 2,34,153 crore. This year, it is Rs 2,37,893 crore. Budget allocation has increased by Rs 3,740 crore. Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa tried to add the SCP, TSP funds to the Budget,” he said.

“The government has also reduced Rs 1,234 crore from the Anna Bhagya scheme. Instead of 7 kg of rice, the government is now offering just 5 kg. This Budget is not satisfactory,” he added. (MR, Inputs: Agencies)
