Govt urged to implement 2017 Act on reservation in promotions or resign

Protest rally planned in Mysuru on July 19

Mysuru, July 17:- Former Mayor Purushotham warned of launching a protest against the government’s delay in implementing the 2017 Act over reservation in job promotions.

“Though The President has signed the Act, the government is delaying the implementation of the Act. It is against the Constitution of India,” he alleged at a press meet held at Mysuru Press Club on Tuesday.

Jnanaprakash seer of Urilinga Peddimutt urged the government either to implement the Act or to tender resignation.

“The state government is giving wrong reasons to delay the implementation of the Act. If the state government is focused only to a certain community, let them install a board affirming the same at Vidhana Soudha,” the seer said.

He clarified that the protest is to ensure 18% of reservation for SCs and STs and not against any one. He warned of black flag protest during Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy’s scheduled visit to KRS Reservoir on July 20.

Purushotham said that a protest rally will be held from Dr Ambedkar’s statue at Town Hall to the Deputy Commissioner’s office here on July 19.
