Govt will initiate work on Kapila River and barriers beside roads: Dr Mahadevappa

Mysuru, March 13:- “The connecting works of Kapila River Sopanakatte and the barriers beside the roads will be taken up,” said District In-charge and PWD Minister Dr H C Mahadevappa on Monday.

He was speaking after inaugurating road works at a cost of Rs 69 crore. National Highway 150 will be developed from Jevargi to Chamarajanagar, a stretch of 1,500 kilometres, the minister added.

Dr Mahadevappa said that the Sopanakatte will be reconstructed as thousands of devotees visit Srikanteshwara Temple in Nanjangud and take a holy dip in the river Kapila. To ensure their safety, the measure will be taken up, he said.

Lok Sabha member R Dhruvanarayan, MLA Kalale Keshavamurthy, Dr Yatindra Siddaramaiah and others were present. -(KS, NGB)
