Mysuru, December 29:- Counting of votes for the elections held in 250 Gram Panchayats in Mysuru district will begin at 8 am tomorrow (December 30), said Mysuru Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri Dasarai here on Tuesday (December 29). Counting will be held at the respective taluk headquarters.
All arrangements have been made for the vote counting process. Candidates and counting agents need to get a permission slip from the polling officer or tahsildar to be present at the counting centre. They are not supposed to bring mobile phones or match boxes and explosives to the counting centres.
For counting, a total of 1764 officials and staff have been roped in and staff from the Revenue Department have been appointed for counting. All Covid-19 guidelines are also in place, Rohini Sindhuri said.
All officials and staff and other members will be compulsorily screened for the coronavirus disease. All have been advised to wear face masks, face shield and keep sanitising their hands frequently.
All candidates have been asked not to shake hands or celebrate after being declared winners.
In the first phase of GP polls, the district witnessed 85.50% voting and in the second phase, it was 81.17%. (MR/KS)
