Graft at MCC: RTI activist files PIL, urges Court to order probe

RTI activist C Ramakrishna has filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking the Court to order a probe into the misappropriation of funds by the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) officials with respect to various government schemes.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Ramakrishna alleged that lakhs of rupees have been misappropriated by MCC officials while distributing funds for beneficiaries under Gruha Bhagya, JnNURM and other schemes.

Displaying documents which he has obtained through RTI, he said MCC has released funds to one person five times, but his contact details and residential address were different. We have come across many such applications where the same person has been granted funds.

Though I have filed a case at Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) and with Deputy Commissioner C Shikha, no action has been taken, said Ramakrishna. Corruption is rampant while selecting beneficiaries and this must be curbed, he added.
