Grow coconut, mango, guava and banana to get NREGA fund: D Rudresh

Mysuru, May 14:- “The state has received a good amount of pre-monsoon rains this year. Farmers can get NREGA support price by growing coconut, mango, guava, banana,” said the deputy director of Horticulture Department D Rudresh.

He was speaking after releasing a pamphlet and addressing a press meet at the Horticulture Department on Thursday.

“Farmers should make use of the NREGA funds for the year. If farmers grow coconut, mango, chiku, banana, in their farms, the department will transfer money to their bank accounts. Those who have already enrolled can start working. Those who want to enroll may contact the Horticulture Department and the Panchayat. Mango, drumstick, guava and coconut plants are available at Horticulture Department of all taluks of the district. We have printed 50,000 pamphlets to reach out to the farmers,” he added.

“Under NREGA scheme, up to Rs 25,000 per acre of land will be distributed. Job card can be availed at Village Panchayat. For that, RTC, Aadhaar, BPL card and bank passbook have to be submitted. Plants will be provided at a discounted price,” he added.
