Grow more trees and protect our environment, says IGP Vipul Kumar

Mysuru, June 09:-  It is high-time every individual takes an initiative to protect environment and grow more trees, said IGP (Southern Region) Vipul Kumar.

He was addressing at the Vanamahotsav programme organised as part of World Environment Day at Karnataka Police Academy in the city on Friday.

A programme to plant 1001 saplings was organised jointly by Karnataka State Police Department and Forest Department in the city.

Inaugurating the programme, he said “The police department has taken initiative to plant more saplings scientifically in the vacant space available near the police station. More saplings have been planted at Bilikere, Yelwal and neighbouring police stations. It is the responsibility of every citizen to protect our environment and make our surroundings greener and healthier,” he added.

Deputy Commissioner D Randeep, DCF K Karikalan, Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens executive director Kamala Karikalan, Police Commissioner Dr A Subramanyeshwra Rao, SP Ravi D Channannavar and others were present.
