Mysuru, February 25:- District In-charge Minister G T Devegowda has condoled the death of freedom fighter, writer and language expert Ko Channabasappa.
“Though he was an advocate and judge, his contribution to the Kannada language is immense. He had a close relationship with the University of Mysore and Rashtrakavi Kuvempu,” he added.
Channabasappa, a well-known liberal voice in Karnataka died at the age of 97 on Saturday.
He presided over the Kannada Sahitya Sammelana at Vijayapura in 2015. In his address, he had defended an individual’s right to expression. He was the recipient of several awards including the Rajyotsava award.
Channabasappa is survived by two sons and two daughters. (MR/KS).
