Mysuru, October 6:- With Chief Minister Siddaramaiah saying he is going to contest from Chamundeshwari constituency in the Assembly elections, district JD(S) wants to stay united and put up a good fight whenever the elections are held.
Amid high political high drama taking place in the district, JD(S) MLA G T Devegowda held a press meet at a private hotel here in the city to say all is well with him and he is not joining the Congress.
“Rumours about my joining the Congress is being spread. It is false news. I am a loyal member of the JD(S) and I am contesting from Chamundeshwari constituency on a JD(S) ticket. Siddaramaiah had once called Congress president Sonia Gandhi a foreigner. And, now he is ruling the state under her guidance. Siddaramaiah, who had made fun of senior politician S M Krishna, took his help to join the Congress,” Devegowda said.
“You call yourself a progressive person and an atheist, but you go to temples. You performed homa at Kollur temple. Didn’t you go to Tirupathi temple? Did you support anyone who helped you winning the by-election at Chamundeshwari constituency? You didn’t allow anyone to grow. There are 80,000 vokkaligas, 40,000 Kurubas, 30,000 Lingayats and 50,000 Dalit voters in Chamundeshwari constituency. Did you help any of these communities? You don’t share any bonding with the constituency. You have been winning the elections since 1983. How many schools and colleges did you construct?,” questioned Devegowda.
MLA Sa Ra Mahesh, former MP H Vishwanath, Mayor M J Ravi Kumar and others were present.
