Guilty in snooping case will be punished: MLA L Nagendra

Mysuru, August 22:- BJP MLA L Nagendra on Wednesday took a swipe at Janata Dal (Secular) MLA Sa Ra Mahesh who had insisted there should be a probe into earlier phone tapping incidents as well. “If Mahesh can provide documents related to earlier phone tapping incidents, they will also be verified.”

On Wednesday, Mahesh had urged the state government to carry out an investigation into telephone tapping cases during the earlier governments as well. Responding to his statement, Nagendra said that H D Kumaraswamy was in the Opposition when Congress was in power and asked why he didn’t ask for an investigation then. Nagendra said the present demand for an investigation into earlier incidents doesn’t hold water.

“The state government has requested for CBI probe as there is no iota of doubt about telephone tapping when Kumaraswamy was the chief minister. JD(S)-Congress coalition government was in power so far and why did they not investigate then?” wondered Nagendra.

“The coalition government had plotted to tap some of the phones of the rebel MLAs and some senior leaders from Congress and BJP. That’s why the government asked for a CBI investigation. The truth will be revealed after the investigation and those who have done the mistake will be punished. Why should  Mahesh worry over this?” he asked.

Responding to the queries on no ministry for MLAs from Mysuru region, Nagendra said that there is still hope for the region to get ministry in future. He said that the decision of the high command can’t be questioned. He said that the Dasara festivities will be held with fervour without politics. (MR/KS)
