Guru is valued in our tradition: S Anand

Mysuru, September 6:- Teachers’ Day was observed at Gangothri Public School and PU College on Bogadi Road in the city on Wednesday.

“Teachers’ Day is a proud day for us. We are observing the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan as Teachers’ Day. Teachers are given great respect as per Indian tradition. Guru is treated on par with Gods. No such comparison can be seen for anyone else,” said the chief guest of the occasion, senior teacher of Vinayakanagar Government School, S Anand.

“A teacher gives new ideas and innovations to students like Brahma does. He protects the learnt wisdom like Vishnu and destroys unnecessary thoughts of a child as Shiva. Teaching is an ancient profession. When one taught and one listened, then the teaching profession began. It is prevalent from the age of Vedas,” he added.

Convener of the school Kanthi Nayak, principal Zarina Babul, principal of PU College Sridhar and others were present. (GK, NGB)
