Hadapada Appanna Jayanti observed in Mysuru

Mysuru, July 7:- The district administration, Kannada and Culture Department jointly observed Hadapada Appanna Jayanti in a simple way by paying floral tributes to the image of Hadapada Appanna at Maneyangala of Kalamandir here on Tuesday.

The message of District in-charge Minister S T Somashekhar was read in his absence on the occasion.

“Hadapada Appanna was among the vachana revolutionaries of 12th century. He was a childhood friend of Basavanna. He was the chief secretary of Anubhava Mantapa of Basavanna which is known as the first democratic parliament of the world. He worked without causing any problems to Basavanna. There is a saying that whoever comes to Anubhava Mantapa had to meet Hadapada Appanna at first. It was the instruction given by Basavanna. It is an honour that we are celebrating the birth anniversary of Hadapada Appanna as a government programme,” the message read.

MLA L Nagendra, sub-divisional officer Dr Venkataraju, District Sharana Sahitya Parishat president M Chandrashekar, assistant director of Kannada and Culture Department H Chennappa, N R Nagesh, Harish Reddy and others were present. (MR/KS)
