Half marathon a big draw
Hundreds of people took part in the annual Dasara half marathon organised by the Department of Sports and Youth Empowerment at the Chamundi Vihar stadium in Mysuru on Sunday.
Sports minister Pramod Madhwaraj flagged off the event along with Police Commissioner B Dayananda.
The half marathon was conducted for children and elders separately. People took part enthusiastically in 21 km race, 8 km race, 5 km race and 3 km race. There was melodious music to add excitement to the run.
Commotion during half marathon
The Dasara half marathon, which began at 6 am at the Chamundi Vihar Stadium witnessed a ruckus when sports minister Pramod Madhwaraj was distributing T-shirts to the participants. The large turnout, it seems, led to confusion which prevailed at the venue for some time. Visibly upset, Madhwaraj blasted the organising committee for the commotion. Eventually, the situation was brought under control.
6 children injured
Six children got injured when they fell while participating in the half marathon. First aid was provided to them and according to the organisers, none was injured seriously.
