Prime News, Karnataka, Mysuru, July 11:- Former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (S) supremo H D Devegowda on Monday inaugurated Ragi Mudde Making Machine manufactured by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) – Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) in the city.
H D Devegowda introduced the healthy ragi mudde (Ragi ball) across the country when he was Prime Minister. Speaking after launching the machine he said, “Really it’s a good initiative from CFTRI which enables people to come out with more muddes in a very short duration”.
The mudde making machine can roll out 250 muddes each weighing nearly 200 to 225gram in just one hour. Due to the low glycemic index of staple food in several districts of Karnataka, ragi contains rich nutrients like calcium, iron and dietary fibres considered as a wonder food.
V D Nagaraj, Senior Priniciple Scientist, Design and Fabrication Unit, CFTRI said “Traditional method involves cooking ragi powder in hot water with stirring using a wooden stick. This traditional method is still practised at household levels which cook ragi mudde.
Health conscious people across the state throngs to restaurants and hotels which prepare ragi mudde, now with the introduction of ragi making mudde the task cut out and can produce mudde on a large scale and with minimum time spend with hygienic conditions.
V D Nagaraj, further added that, the ragi mudde machine each would cost nearly Rs 3 to 3.5 lakh, the machine can be design to produce even 500 or even 1000 muddes per hour. It’s a fully automated machine, it is steam cooked inside the machine.
