HDK didn’t tolerate even his brother becoming DCM: GT Devegowda

Mysuru, September 23:- “Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy didn’t tolerate his brother H D Revanna becoming the deputy chief minister (DCM). I was the last person to expect him to make me chief minister,” said Janata Dal (Secular) rebel leader G T Devegowda while speaking to media persons in the city on Sunday.

Devegowda, who seems to be on his way out from the JD(S) for sure, has continued his diatribe against party supremo H D Deve Gowda and his son Kumaraswamy.

“The government would have survived if Siddaramaiah or Dr G Parameshwar was made chief minister with Revanna as DCM. Do you think the man who didn’t want his brother becoming DCM would have made me chief minister? Do you think of party workers now? You used to stay in a five-star hotel when you were the chief minister. We used to wait near the gate after calling your personal secretary. We and party workers had to take prior permission to meet you. You visited foreign countries in the name of rest. We worked hard to build the party with you, but we don’t need rest as advised by you,” he said.

“You tried to groom alternate leaders for me. There was no need to make Sa Ra Mahesh a minister. You groomed him only to sideline me. You are saying that I am resting. I don’t need to rest in the Unites States or Russia or Israel like you. I want to be with the people unlike you,” he taunted Kumaraswamy.

“You had been to Israel to study their agriculture. Where did you implement it? You planted paddy at a farm at Mandya with Puttaraju. Was it Israel model agriculture? Like you, I am also hurt in politics but I am in politics for my people,” he added.

“I do good to people, but they do bad to me. Let me be myself. You have become chief minister twice. I won’t grudge your growth. You can become chief minister again and I won’t oppose it,” he said. (MR/KS)
