Heavy rain brings respite to Mysuru city

Mysuru, November 6:- Heavy rain, accompanied by lightning and thunder, lashed the city here on Thursday (November 5) night till the early hours of Friday (November 6). It was a welcome rain as Mysuru was witnessing a rise in temperature in the last couple of days. The rain started around 8 pm and continued till early hours of Friday.

Many of the arterial roads were inundated, giving a torrid time to commuters and the pot-holed roads endangered the lives of people. Power supply was also affected in several areas in the city. Though the rain was unexpected, people were not complaining for obvious reasons.

K R Nagar, Nanjangud, H D Kote and Hunsur reported heavy rains while other taluks witnessed moderate rainfall. Beerihundi and Hinkal had a rainfall of 3 cm, Bogadi, Vajamangala, Siddalingapura, Maratikyathanahalli reported 2 cm rain. Tayuru, Chikkaiana Chatra, Tandavapura, Hulimavu, Rampura, Kudlapura also received good rain. Belakanahalli, Doddebagilu, Talakadu, Holasalu, Byrapura, Kiragasuru in T Narasipura reported good rainfall.

A yellow alert has been sounded in Shivamogga, Kodagu and Hassan districts which are likely to receive heavy rainfall on Friday. (MR/KS)
