Mysuru, June 29:- After a lull, rains came back to haunt the heritage city on Sunday evening (June 28). It rained so much that many areas were inundated.
The rain started at around 4 pm on Sunday and it pelted for more than two hours. Many low-lying areas in the city bore the brunt. Pedestrians and two-wheeler riders had difficulty to wade through water-logged roads. Water puddles were formed at Agrahara Circle, Dodda Gadiyara Circle, K R Circle, Sayyaji Rao Road and other places. A drainage pipe was broken at Vijayanagar 3rd Stage and water gushed into several houses. The city apparently received 5 cm rain.
The areas surrounding Mysuru Palace received the highest rainfall. Many homes in Ramanuja Road and Kuvempunagar 3rd Stage had a harrowing time as rainwater marooned them. A tree branch fell on the road in front of Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) office.
Farming activities have gained momentum, thanks to good monsoon rains. (MR/KS)
