Heavy rains throw life out of gear in Mysuru

Prime News, Karnataka, Rainfall, Mysuru, October 16:- As if to mark the end of Mysuru Dasara 2021, soon after ‘Jamboo Savari’ on Friday (October 15), it rained for nearly two hours. Most farmers welcomed the timely rain as they could start farming activities. On the other hand, the rain gushed into many houses leaving the inmates struggling to overcome the problem.

Mysuru city received 8-cm rain. Bengaluru-Nilgiri Road, Sayyaji Rao Road, MG Road and many arterial streets in the city were water-logged. Many hotels in and around Mysuru KSRTC Suburban Bus Station were badly hit by the rain.

Madhuvana Layout near MG Road, some areas in Ramakrishna Nagar, Ganesha Nagar, Subhash Nagar, Sathya Nagar, Vivekananda Nagar, Jalapuri Road behind SP’s office were flooded. Several apartments in Yadavagiri were also flooded with sewage and rainwater and the residents faced inconvenience.

There was a traffic jam on Sayyaji Rao Road, D Devaraj Urs Road and MG Road for some time.

Many villages in Mysuru taluk, T Narasipura and Hunsur reported heavy rains. The weather department has said that the situation is likely to continue for some more days.

After receiving complaints from many areas, three ‘Abhay’ rescue teams of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) and six fire extinguishing vehicles got into damage-control mode. (MR/KS)
