Covid-19 pandemic: Helavarahundi village in Nanjangud sealed down

Mysuru, May 23:- Helavarahundi village in Nanjangud taluk has been sealed down as a government official who had tested positive for coronavirus visited the village. 9 people of Helavarahundi and 6 people of Anjanapura came in contact with the patient. All the 25 contacts have now been quarantined. All the throat squab samples of the 395 families in the village has been collected and sent for testing. As the house he visited at Anjanapura is on the outskirts of the village, the house is locked down.

A government official of Malavalli had visited the residence of his in-laws at Anjanapura on May 19. He attended a wedding on May 20 at Helavarahundi. Later, he tested positive for coronavirus.

Tahsildar KM Mahesh Kumar, taluk panchayat EO Srikanta Raje Urs, taluk health officer Dr S D Kalavathi, Dr Nagendra have visited the villages and collected information. 25 primary contacts of the patient are in facilitated quarantine. As more than 350 people are in secondary contacts, Anjanapura and Helavarahundi villages have been sealed down.

Now another threat has been posed at Nanjangud taluk which was recovering from the coronavirus spread. Officials have told that if any primary contact tests positive for coronavirus, secondary contacts will also be tested. 28 regions were identified and sealed down in Nanjangud. 26 of them have already cleared. But now, two more zones have been created as CDPO officer travelled through these villages. (MR/KS)
