Highway bandh in support of MSP

Mysuru, November 25:-  Demanding Minimum Support Price (MSP), the farmers’ unions are observing highway bandh tomorrow (November 26).

Talking to reporters at Mysuru Press Club at Agrahara here on Thursday (November 25), State Sugarcane Growers’ Association president Kuruburu Shanthakumar said, “FRP should be reviewed again.”

He said, “It was because of the Centre’s negligence that hundreds of farmers died. The families of the deceased farmers should be paid Rs 25 lakh as compensation. Time is ripe for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to find a solution.”

He said, “Prime Minister had promised to double farmers’ income by 2022. But farmers and labourers have been pushed to the point of no return.MSP should be legally binding.”

Shanthakumar said, “Crops and vegetables worth crores of rupees have been lost due to heavy rain. The loss should be estimated scientifically.”

To mark World Farmers’ Day on December 26, there will be a state-level seminar.

Attahalli Devaraj, Kiragasoor Shankar, Baradapura Nagaraj, Galigarahundi Venkatesh, Shivarudrappa were present. (MR/KS)
