Hinkal clearance work by MUDA receives flak

Mysuru, June 14:- Shivayogi Siddarameshwara of Bovi organisation alleged that the operation by Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) to demolish houses and sheds at Hinkal, saying the land belongs to it is against the ethical practice.

Speaking at a press meet held at Mysuru Press Club on Thursday, office-bearer of the organisation, G Nagaraj said that the land belongs to the community members who are residents of the area under Land Reforms Act.

“This land actually doesn’t come under MUDA. But the neighbouring land of a powerful political leader comes under MUDA. To help him, the MUDA has taken over the land of poor Bhovi community hoping there would be no much opposition to it,” he alleged.

“When MUDA tried to clear the buildings earlier, we had opposed. The case is still in court. But MUDA again violated the court rule. The land payments of 1990 have already been paid to the court. MUDA has targeted community members. MUDA commissioner should immediately call for a meeting to serve justice for the affected people. Or else, we will stage statewide protests,” he warned.
