Mysuru, March 30:- Amidst lockdown, the district administration had permitted the farmers to sell their vegetables to the APMC in the city on Monday. Farmers promptly came to the yard in the morning with their produce. Many buyers also rushed to the yard to buy vegetables but they were sent back, the yard is for wholesale purchases. They were also promised that vegetables would be supplied to their areas.
Farmers were in for a shock when they were asked to sell their tomatoes at 50 paise per kg. When they realised that they are not gaining anything, dumped their loads of tomatoes on the road.
They urged the government to ensure a better price for their crops. (MR/KS)
