Home Minister Reddy holds meeting with police officials

Mysuru, October 12:- Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy visited IG office in the city on Wednesday and held meeting with the officials.

“Superintendent of Police and Commissioner of Police of all districts should ensure that no anti-social activities take place in their jurisdiction. Police officers have to give attention to the happenings at schools and colleges and education institutions. Students should not face any harassment from miscreants. Those who regularly involve in anti-social activities should be punished under goonda act. Those who are involved in criminal activities should be given an opportunity to reform. PG accommodations have become place for several illegal activities. Assaults are made on those who question this. Such incidents should not take place and police officers should tighten the night beat system. Wine shops and bar and restaurants should not function before and after the time allotted. Foreign students who come to the state are violating rules. They should be given prior information on what to do and what not. Tourists from other countries should be given better security. IT organisations which function 24×7 need better security. Failure of law and order at taluk and district levels will be considered as a major failure and jurisdiction in charge will be held responsible for the failure. There should be no delay in probing cases,” he said.

“Rape, sexual harassment, chain snatching and dowry harassment should never take place. Those who involve in such activities have to be brought to books. There should be a total ban on narcotic drugs in urban or rural areas. We have to work hard to make Karnataka free from drugs. Cricket betting, matka  and other illegal activities have to be completely stopped. Prostitution centres, video games, live band and other illegal activities should be controlled. We have received complaints about women and children being used in begging racket which can’t be tolerated,” he added.

“The problems faced by the third gender at traffic signals have to be stopped. Police should not harass them, but convince them. Superintendent of police and commissioner of police have to give importance to strengthening intelligence department. People from north-east who are here either for education or job should be given security.  Seized vehicles should not be parked on footpaths. They should be cleared within three months after taking permission from the cour Seized vehicles should be cleared every 3 months taking permission from the court.
