Mysuru, February 27:- “Music is an ancient art. An honest effort has to be made to protect music,” said MLC Marithibbegowda.
He was speaking after inaugurating 60th annual day of Women’s PU College and musical event Sangeethothsava at People’s Park in the city on Wednesday.
“Earlier, musical events were being held often. But nowadays, after the arrival of television, mobile and internet, people are staying away from art. Music needs to be protected,” he said.
“Music is a difficult art. It has to be practiced regularly to achieve anything. But I am happy to see parents coming forward to teach music to their daughters. I wish the students success in their future,” he added.
President of SDMC High School Salma Banu, principal of the college Nagamma, deputy director of Education Department Dr Panduranga, senior journalist Amshi Prasanna Kumar and others were present. (MR/KS)
