In a major operation, Vidyaranypuram police seized Rs 22,26,000 that was being transported here in Mysuru on Saturday. The unaccounted money was in Rs 2,000 denomination.
Two people, Gurulinga (42) from KR Mill Colony and Srinivas (38) from Halebidu village in Hunsur taluk, who were transporting the money, have been taken into police custody. The car in which the cash was being taken has also been seized, the police said.
When the duo was apprehended, they failed to produce proper documents for the huge cash they were carrying. Vidyaranpuram police Inspector G S Raghu, constables Shanthakumar, Beerappa and Nataraju were involved in the operation.
A case has been registered at Vidyaranyapuram police station and investigations are on.
