‘Hunsur TMC has failed to distribute sites to poor’

Mysuru, December 30:- “The Hunsur Town Municipal Council (TMC) has failed to distribute sites to poor to construct houses despite having purchased 20 acres land two decades ago. TMC has now sent a proposal to the Deputy Commissioner to purchase additional 8 acres of land at Rs 15 lakh per acre. For what purpose they are doing this?” questioned Sathyappa of Sathya Foundation.

He was addressing a press meet by producing documents obtained under Right to Information (RTI) Act, at Hunsur Press Club on Friday.

“There are a lot of poor people living in the town and taluk. About four families are living in a single house. It is unfortunate that officials and public representatives have not taken care of their housing needs. Land owners have decided to move the court as the TMC has not paid them the money for the land which was purchased at Rs 27,000 per acre in 1994,” he added.

Farmer leaders Basappa, Basavanna and Karamcharis Association president Murugesh were present.
