Hyrige in HD Kote taluk, a village in distress

Road leading to agricultural lands in deplorable condition; farmers urge MLA Anil Chikkamadu to initiate road works to avoid mishaps and fatalities

Prime News, Karnataka, Infrastructure, HD Kote, October 22:- “Hyrige village in H D Kote taluk of Mysuru district is a village in distress. The 3 km road leading from Mananthavady Main Road adjacent to the Hebballa Canal which leads to the agricultural lands in the village and finally ends at the Kapila River (Kabini) is in a deplorable state and several requests over the past 3 years to the elected representative (HD Kote MLA) has fallen on deaf ears and he has not even visited this road even once. Heavy vehicles ply on this road to transport sugarcane, paddy, corn, and other agricultural produce and are often seen toppling or getting stuck in the mud. During the rainy season, the Hebballa Canal breaches and water flows on to whatever is remaining of the road as there is no proper drainage facility. Former HD Kote MLA late S Chikkamadu had taken the initiative to get the metaling work of the road, but the work was not completed due to his untimely demise,” lament the farmers of Hyrige village.

“The labourers who have to travel 3 km to reach the agricultural lands are facing a lot of hardship because of the pathetic condition of the road or no road at all. The road which leads to the banks of the Kapila River is a tourist spot and many tourists visit this place, but due to lack of a motorable road, the vehicles often get stuck,” say the farmers and villagers.

In a press release, the farmers of Hyrige village have appealed to the HD Kote MLA Anil Chikkamadu to visit the road which is craving for attention and ensure that the road laying work is taken up on an urgent basis to avoid any mishaps and fatalities. (NGB)
