I am contesting from Chamundeshwari: Siddaramaiah

Mysuru, March 29:- “I don’t have to do politics as state JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy says. I will contest from Chamundeshwari constituency,” said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah here on Thursday.

He was speaking to media at Mandakalli airport after arriving in the city in the morning on a five-day visit.

“Does Kumaraswamy know how many times I contested from Chamundeshwari constituency? I have contested seven times and won five times and lost twice. I have faith in the people of Chamundeshwari constituency and I will contest from there. I don’t need any political advice from Kumaraswamy,” Siddaramaiah said.

“BJP president Amit Shah is scared of me. That’s why he follows wherever I go. Let him go wherever he wants. I won’t comment on it as it is his personal tour. Shah says I am not a Hindu. Let him clarify whether he is a Hindu or a Jain. Everyone, including former Chief Minister Yeddyurappa, came to campaign in the by-election. But the whole state knows who won it. Yeddyurappa, who went to jail on corruption charges, calls me corrupt,” the Chief Minister mocked.

Responding to a question on Cauvery dispute, CM Said, “I had called for an all-party meeting to discuss Cauvery dispute. Yeddyurappa, Jagadish Shettar, Kumaraswamy, Deve Gowda didn’t attend the meeting. Only BJP leaders Sadananda Gowda and Ananth Kumar attended the meeting. I clearly told them that there is BJP government at the centre. We will have to do as the Supreme Court directs. If anything goes wrong, they are responsible,” he added.

“I will tour the district for four days. I will rest for one day. I will be going to a resort tomorrow along with my friends. We need people at least to discuss things. I have not come for the election campaign, but to visit villages,” he added. – (MR/KS).
