Mysuru, June 14:- “I made a mistake by entering politics. There is no place for those who work in politics. I understood it with my past four elections and I will not contest any elections hereafter,” said an emotional M Lakshman of the Congress who lost in the Legislative Council elections from South Teachers’ Constituency.
He was addressing a press meet at Mysuru Press Club on Thursday.
“Teachers who are mature also voted for those who are corrupt. It has hurt me. There are several doubts over not giving 2nd prominence votes for me,” he asked while questioning the functioning of the Election Commission.
“I am not able to digest the pain. I pledged my home, land and ornaments for politics and it has become difficult for me to lead the life now,” he said.
“Teachers of Mandya, Mysuru Rural and Hassan District have voted for me. But the teachers of Mysuru city did not give their second prominence votes. I will fight for the cause of teachers. Janata Dal (Secular) cancelled NPS as it promised and the appointment of teachers should be done in time. I will not allow JD(S) to take decisions as they wish. I will fight for the teachers,” he said with moist eyes. (MR/KMR).
