Political News, Karnataka, Shivamogga, April 20:-After Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa came under attack from various quarters over the invite extended to Governor Vajubhai R Vala to chair an all-party meeting to take stock of the Covid-19 situation, Rural Development minister K S Eshwarappa on Tuesday (April 20) expresses surprise saying what is the need to invite Governor when there are elected representatives.
Speaking to the media in Shivamogga, Eshwarappa said, “The governor taking part in the meeting to take stock of covid-19 situation is really surprising. When the government has elected representatives, I cannot understand why he called a meeting.
“CM inviting the opposition party leaders and others to the meeting is good. I am not saying that the governor should not call the meeting but, this has paved way for a new system.
“Maybe the governor called a meeting considering covid-19 cases spiking in the state or to alert the representatives on the covid-19 situation. Whatever prominent decision he takes, it will be good for the state.”
Speaking on the question over the lockdown, Eshwarappa said, “There is no necessity of lockdown in the state. There is no doubt about this. But, everyone will be committed to the decision taken by the governor.”
