I don’t expect anything from central Budget: Siddaramaiah

Prime News, National, Karnataka, Finance, Mysuru, February 1:-  Reacting to the Union Budget, senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday (January 31) said that there is no expectation as such. “BJP leaders have only lied in the economic survey and I don’t expect anything from the Budget. Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has come down drastically. Ever since Dr Manmohan Singh relinquished office, GDP has been declining. It was 4.2% in 2019-20 and it is -7.7% for 2020-21. Just to cover it up, the BJP has said it will be 11% in 2021-22 in the economic survey. It is nothing but a move to misguide the people.”

Training his guns on Janata Dal (Secular), Siddaramaiah said, “It is not a political party at all. JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda skipping President Ram Nath Kovind’s Budget speech is no big issue. According to me, it is not a party at all.”

The Congress leader added, “Unemployment is on the rise in the country. It is 9.2% in urban areas and 8.9% in rural areas. When Dr Manmohan Singh was at the helm of affairs, the unemployment rate was 2.9%. Around 9.5% of graduates, qualified engineers are facing unemployment. Unless farming and industrial sectors are given impetus, we can’t expect the country to grow.” (MR/KS)
